Since the world is in quarantine due to recent events, our family decided to have a family fun week. Each day we picked a theme and tried to base what we did around that theme from meals to crafts to movies and more.

Day 4 was a Superhero themed day. We all wore something Superhero related and had a day full of super fun activities and food.

Our Superhero themed day schedule looked like:

  • Superhero Movie Marathon - All Day!
  • Superhero themed lunch
  • Nap-time for some super tired kids
  • Superhero Craft
  • Superhero Painting
  • Super Cool Drink Experiment
  • Superhero themed dinner
  • Superhero Would You Rather

We started off our Superhero themed day watching Ant Man. We eventually watched Ant Man & Wasp and Captain America Civil War as the day went on.

Lunch
For lunch, the kids had Ants on a Log (Celery, Peanut Butter, & Raisins) to go with the Ant Man movie. They had an apple with an "S" carved into it. It was suppose to look like the Superman logo but it's hard to see. They also had Salsa wraps made to look like Thor's hammer. I will admit that coming up with Superhero themed meals was more challenging than I thought it would be.

Crafts
After lunch, the kids took a super quick nap to recharge. We then made a flying Superhero craft. We drew and designed our own Superheroes on paper but you can find a printable version at Kid's Craft Room HERE!

Once you are finished decorating your Superhero, glue it together leaving a gap at the bottom for the straw, and your Superhero is ready to fly!

If you can get them to work, they fly decently far. They can easily become damaged, especially if you have little ones that like to spit into the straw when they blow. This is still a fun activity to try!

The kiddos then painted a Superhero of their choice with these fun watercolor pages we already had. You can find theses watercolor books at most craft stores. Ours are from Hobby Lobby.

Super Drinks
While my husband made dinner, we tried out a Super cool drink experiment using Skittles and Sprite (both start with the letter "S" just like Superhero). Each kid picked out a Skittle color of their choice. They then dropped the Skittles in the Sprite and watched as it changed color.

Before I let them taste test their creations, I had them gather all the Superhero action figures we had and match them to the drink colors.

They had several more, but chose:
  • Blue - Captain America & Blue Power Ranger
  • Pink - Pink Power Ranger
  • Green - Green Power Ranger (My three-year-old son yelled "Hulk Smash". He calls Hulk Hulk Smash and Hulk is Green!)
  • Purple - Batman & Black Power Ranger
  • Red - Spiderman

They did a great job matching the drinks to the action figures!

The Skittles started to dissolve but not fully. The longer the Skittles were in the Sprite, the more flavor the drink had. The Skittles also became hard to chew so it's probably best if your little ones don't eat the Skittles at the bottom and just enjoy the fun drink!

Dinner
For dinner, my husband made Bang Bang Chicken, fries, and mixed vegetables. This was our first time having this recipe and it was pretty good. The sauce had a little kick to it. Not sure if I would want this meal all the time but it was a great meal for spicing it up a little and trying something new.

I chose Bang Bang Chicken because I thought the name fit perfectly with our Superhero theme - BANG, POW, BAM!  You can find the recipe for Bang Bang Chicken by Cooking Made Healthy HERE!

We all chose a Superhero buddy to join us while eating dinner so the kids can now say they ate dinner with a Superhero.

After dinner we played a quick round of Superhero themed Would you Rather, watched another Superhero movie, and each kid got to make another Super cool Skittles Drink of their choice.

You can find a free printable version of the Superhero Would you Rather game on Get Away Today HERE! I did not print out the game but I read the cards out loud to my family and had them choose what they would rather do/be. It's crazy how everyone has different answers!

There are tons of activities you can do to celebrate your Superhero themed family fun day. There are lots of Superhero movies out there, comic books, story books, action figures, activities, and more. Your family can dress up as their favorite Superhero, have a homemade Superhero obstacle coarse, or even play Superhero Bingo. I've seen several fun and free Superhero themed printable floating around the internet. Have fun with it and be creative. Pinterest is a great place to start for inspiration!
