Star Wars Themed Family Fun Day

Disclosure: This post is not affiliated with Disney or Star Wars. This is NOT a sponsored post. This is just a themed family day we threw for our kids. You can find my blog's full disclaimer & Privacy Policy HERE.

Since the world is in quarantine due to recent events, our family decided to have a family fun week. Each day we picked a theme and tried to base what we did around that theme from meals to crafts to movies and more.

We started the week with a Star Wars themed day on May 4th - "May the 4th be with you!".

My husband is a big Star Wars fan so planned the day out. He started watching the movies over the weekend and by the end of the day Monday had finished the eighth one. My husband planned to have a movie marathon, a craft, a snack, and dinner all Star Wars related.

Our Star Wars themed day schedule looked like:
  • Star Wars Movie Marathon - All Day
  • Light Saber wars
  • Yoda Lunch
  • Naptime - Jedi's have to rest too!
  • Favorite Character Craft
  • Mini Light Saber chocolate covered pretzels
  • Death Star Pizza
  • Star Wars Movie with dinner
  • Star Wars Bedtime Books

Activities
We started the day watching some of the Star Wars movies. We have almost all of them on DVD but you can also stream them on Disney+, rent them, or borrow them from a friend.

During the movies, the boys decided to get out their light sabers and have a light saber fight. I guess they couldn't help but act out the fighting scenes.

The Craft
For their craft, they made a Star Wars character of their choice. My husband asked each kid what character they wanted to make then made an outline of the character on a piece of paper. The kids ripped up construction paper of the colors of their character and glued it to the paper to make their favorite character. I think they turned out pretty cool looking.

The Snack
We melted some chocolate and let the kids dip the mini pretzel sticks in the chocolate then decorate them with sprinkles in the colors of the light sabers.

The mini pretzels are the perfect size for little hands and make a great snack!

The Food
For lunch, my husband made the kids tuna, crackers, ants on a log, and apples; not Star Wars related at all so I decided to get creative and repositioned the food to resemble Yoda. I used the tuna for the head, apples for the ears, crackers for the eyes, and the ants on the log for his body. It's not perfect, but it worked!

For dinner, my husband decorated a pizza to look like the Death Star. He used pepperoni, pineapple, and black olives because that's what our family likes on their pizza but you can use whatever toppings you like.

We ended the day with some Star Wars book reading and finishing up the last movie we could fit in before bedtime.

My husband did a good job planning out the day. I'm sure if I'd let him, he'd make everyday a Star Wars day. Our family fun week was off to a good start; little did the kids know what the rest of the week had in store!

There are tons of activities you can do to celebrate Star Wars Day aka May 4th - "May the 4th be with you!". You can even have a Star Wars themed day just because. This is how we chose to celebrate but you can easily add more Star Wars themed crafts like DIY light sabers or character masks, dress up as your favorite character, decorate your house, make the Millennial Falcon out of cardboard boxes and pretend fly around, or act our your favorite fight scene. Have fun with it and be creative. Pinterest is a great place to start for inspiration!

I'd love to know what your family did for your Star Wars themed family fun day. Comment below!
