Since the world is in quarantine due to recent events, our family decided to have a family fun week. Each day we picked a theme and tried to base what we did around that theme from meals to crafts to movies and more.
Day 3 of our family fun week was a Disney themed day!
Our Disney themed day schedule looked like:
- Get dressed clothes with Mickey on it
- Disney Movies - All Day
- Watched Frozen with a movie inspired Lunch
- Naptime - Prince & Princess' have to rest too!
- Mickey & Minnie masks
- Mickey drawing lessons
- Watch Lady & The Tramp with a movie inspired Dinner
- Homemade Dole Whips
My husband and kids started the day watching Star Wars to finish up their marathon from our Star Wars Family Fun Day on Monday. We had Disney Movies going all day in the background because who doesn't love Disney?!?!
We have several Disney DVD's and Disney+ so we had plenty to choose from. If you don't have any Disney movies, you can possibly find some for cheap at a Peddler's Malls or a Pawn Shop, rent them, ask to borrow some from a friend, or sign up for Disney+.
We then watched Frozen, one of the kids favorites! For lunch we made the kids sandwiches, carrots, and pasta salad. The sandwiches go with the saying "We Finish each others... Sandwiches" from the movie and the carrots are of coarse to represent Olaf's nose.
For more Frozen inspired food, check out my daughter's Frozen Inspired Birthday Party HERE!
The kids took a quick nap because all Prince & Princess' have to rest too! After nap, our living room became full of all our Disney plush toys so the kids had some movie buddies!
Crafts
What better crafts to make for a Disney themed day than Mickey themed crafts and activities!
We made Mickey and Minnie masks out of paper plates. The kids colored the plates black then we cut out the center of the plate, cut the center in half, and stapled it to the rest of the plate for ears.
The kids then had a mini photo shoot with their masks while they watched Mickey Mouse Clubhouse.
If your kids haven't watched Mickey Mouse Clubhouse, they should! It is a great learning show for young kids. It's full of lots of bright colors, music, and educational activities. You can also check out my sons' Mickey's Clubhouse inspired Birthday Party for some Mickey food inspiration.
You can learn how to draw three different versions of Mickey over the years by Disney cast members HERE from The Disney Spin.
OR you can check out this video by my-how-to-draw HERE. There are several step-by-step drawing tutorials out there to help you learn to draw Mickey Mouse. We chose Mickey but you can choose other Disney characters if they have them.
Here are our finished drawings, can you guess who did what drawing?
For dinner we watched Lady & The Tramp. We had a Lady & The Tramp inspired dinner - Million Dollar Spaghetti, salad, and cheese filled break sticks.
After dinner we tried to make Homemade Dole Whips. I don't believe I have ever tried the real thing (if I did I was little), but the homemade Dole Whips where just okay. The kids liked them at first but decided they weren't a huge fan of them after a couple of bites. I think we didn't blend the pineapple as well as we could have. Maybe we will try a different version next time!
The recipe we used for the dole whips is from Insider HERE! It's pretty much a scoop of ice-cream, pineapple juice, and crushed pineapple in a blender.
I had also planned to play some Disney board games we have and go on a few virtual Disney rides (Google/YouTube Disney rides) but unfortunately we didn't get to either. We had so much fun we lost track of time and bedtime snuck up on us.
There are tons of activities you can do when having a Disney family fun day. Disney has tons of fun things to do from food to games to clothes, toys, books, movies, and even Disney+. You can stay home and have a Disney fun day like my family did. You can go explore the Disney store if there is one close by or even check out the Disney section at JCPenny and let your kids pick out something fun. If you really want to go all out you can go to Disney World or on a Disney Cruise.
Dress up like Princesses or Princes, grab your favorite Disney plush, and have some fun. Sing your favorite Disney songs on karaoke, or play Disney Charades and see if your family can guess what character you are. Have fun with it and be creative. Pinterest is a great place to start for inspiration!
