My husband and I recently celebrated our fifth wedding anniversary. For our anniversary we went on our traditional Alphabet Date. Five years pairs with the letter "E" so we celebrated with an All about E Date. <--- Click the link to see what we did!
I don't know about you, but I like trying to match the gift I get my husband to the anniversary whether it has to do with the year, the letter, the traditional gift, the modern gift or flower. Five years traditional gift is wood and the modern gift is silverware.
For our fifth wedding anniversary, my husband made me a wood "I love you" necklace and bought me some earrings for "E".
I bought my husband a personalized wood watch. I also made my husband a wood sign and paired it with liquor and a mix CD to match the saying on the sign.
I gave my husband five gifts for five years. I saw the five senses gift idea on Pinterest a long time ago so thought since I already had five gifts for five years I would make it more fun by matching them to the five senses.
I added a note to tie it all together that said "Being married to you makes perfect SENSE...."

Here are the wrapped gifts:
- Sight - Handmade Wood Sign with song lyrics; "Honey Bee" by Blake Shelton
- Taste - Apple Whiskey
- Smell - Strawberry Wine
- Touch - Personalized Wood Watch
- Sound - Mix CD of upbeat Country love songs; "Honey Bee" is the first song on the mix
I matched almost all the gifts to the song lyrics. This may seem like a random gift but the first night my husband and I officially met, he dared me to take a shot of whiskey with him. I like whiskey but as I've gotten older, I tend to favor wine. Needless to say, the song "Honey Bee" is one of several songs we like that describes our relationship!
Five is my favorite number so five years couldn't pass us up without me wanting to spoil my husband. Needless to say he liked his gifts, especially the wood watch. Five years down, Forever to go!
Five years has been one of the easiest years to come up with a gift idea. Since the traditional gift idea is wood, it makes it very easy to come up with, make, or buy something. From home decor to furniture to jewelry to kitchen bowls, there are several wood items out there that would make the perfect gift for that special someone.
