If you've followed my blog for a while, you may of seen some of my past posts about making letters for a monogramed wall. I've bought a few monogramed letters and made a few using Black & Gold Paint, Buttons and Yarn; my husband even made me one out of Sea Shells.
I currently have a monogramed wall above a mirror in my bedroom. I ran out of space so when we rearranged the living room, I started one above my desk. Hopefully I will be able to display all the letters on the same wall one day but for now it works and looks fine!
A few years ago my grandma was making decorations out of wine corks. She ran out of wine corks and never finished. I came across this black, metal "M" in her craft room and she gave it to me! I like trying new wines but my favorite wine doesn't have a cork in it... so needless to say I didn't have enough wine corks to fill the "M" either. The letter sat in my closet for a while but I finally got around to finishing it and I loved how it turned out.
I will go ahead and tell you, NO I did not drink all that wine. My husband took me to a winery for one of our date nights. I saw a barrel full of corks and asked the employee what they did with them. He said "I give them to crafty moms". I thought he was joking but he filled up a wine bag and handed it to me. I was super happy because that meant that I could get to crafting.
Arn't the butterflies on the wine corks gorgeous?!?!

With the wine corks from the winery and the ones I had saved, I had exactly enough to fill the "M".
I didn't want to just stick the wine corks in the monogramed letter because I was afraid they would fall out over time so I added a little hot glue to the bottom of the wine cork and pressed it into the letter.
The metal letter quickly hardens the hot glue so make sure you line it up correctly right away.
I used wine corks but you can easily fill the metal monogramed letter with other objects such as - fake flower, paper flowers, cut crayons, toys, etc. The possibilities are endless.
You can hang it on the wall or depending on the letter, it may stand freely.
If you don't want to buy the metal monogramed letter and fill it with the wine corks you could glue them onto a flat wooden letter or create the letter yourself by gluing the wine corks together. It all depends on your budget and what look you are going for.
If you want to get real fancy you can even paint the wine corks but that may take away from the original vibe.

Incase you would like a step by step tutorial:
HOW TO:
To make your own Wine Cork Letter you will need:
- Wine Cork Metal Letter (affiliate)
- Tons of Wine Corks - I used just over 100
- Hot Glue Gun & Glue Sticks
1. Make sure you have enough wine corks to fill your letter. Put a little hot glue on the bottom of the wine cork and quickly press the wine cork onto the bottom inside of your letter.
For more security, you can randomly hot glue a few of the wine cork sides together.
2. Repeat until you run out of room or wine corks.
3. Hang and enjoy!
It is as easy as 1, 2, 3! Serious this was one of the easiest monogramed letters I have made so far and it looks really nice hanging on the wall or free standing with other decor. The wine cork monogramed letter would make a great addition to any monogramed letter wall, bar, kitchen, cellar, or even in a living space with some other rustic decor. I hope you enjoyed this tutorial and that your wine cork monogramed letter is a success!
