Back in 2013, my husband and I were expecting our first child. We decided to have a ducky themed Gender Reveal Baby Shower because we wanted to receive things we needed like gender neutral items and diapers since we were planning on having more children and didn't want to end up with a bunch of pink baby clothes. The baby shower turned out really well, you can check it out HERE.
One of the activities we had set up at the baby shower was Late Night Diapers/ Words for the wee hours. This is a fun activity for everyone. Basically the guest write funny sayings on the diapers with sharpies. When the parents are changing their new bundle of joy, they read the diapers to help make diaper changing more fun.
Here is a picture of how the Late Night Diapers was set ups at our baby shower. The blank diapers were set up with sharpies and directions that read "Words for the wee hours. A word of encouragement, a chuckle or two for the mom and dad, a note just from you. Take a diaper and write on the booty a cute saying to take their mind off the doody.". Once they were written on, they were placed in the basket. At the end of the party we got to take home the basket and all of the diapers.
You can use any brand of diapers you want to use. We used Pampers since Pampers have the most white on them so it was easier to read.
We really enjoyed the late night diapers as they got us through several late nights. Several of the diapers were funny while others were very sweet.
I was afraid the sharpie was going to run if it got wet but we didn't experience any stained clothes. I'm sure if the diaper becomes over full that it may run and stain the babies outfit though but we didn't let it get to that point.

Several months later on Mother's Day I thought I opened what was a new pack of Luv's diapers only to pull out a diaper that said "My mommy is beautiful". It was perfect timing and totally unplanned. I found out later that my mother had opened up a bag of bigger diapers and wrote more sayings on them to keep the late night diaper support going for the first few months of parenthood.
If you are having or throwing a baby shower, this is a cute and easy activity. The parents to be are definitely in need of diapers so why not make the diaper changing days more enjoyable by adding some cute and funny sayings. Be creative and have fun with the sayings. Incase you can't think of anything, here are a few of the sayings our guest wrote on our diapers:
- Oop's I did it again!
- Warning Toxic
- Cute and Stinky
- Open at your own Risk
- What goes in must come out
- This one's for Daddy
- Diaper backwards spells "Repaid"
- Your fault, you change it
- Party in my crib 2AM
- Don't look at me, that smell is coming from daddy
- One day I will be wiping your butt
- Houston we have a problem
- Nose plugs not included
- This is how you clear a room
- It's that time again
- Sleep is for the weak
- To pee or not to pee
- I think I just set a world record
- 1 down hundreds to go
- This to shall pass
- You come in wearing a diaper and leave wearing one to
- I drink until I pass out
- Real babies do it in their diapers
- I don't smell anything
- Patenice or 1-800-Grandma
- Relax, only 18 more years
Sorry the pictures aren't the best, they were taken before I had my blog but I figured this was a cute and creative way to capture the beginning of our diaper changing days. Isn't she cute! Feel free to share some more sayings in the comments. Please keep it clean!
