Since we've moved into our house I have talked about making an "M" wall being that "M" is our last initial. Ever since my husband made and gave me a Sea Shell "M" for Christmas, I have been collecting M's and recently decided to make a few. The Button Monogramed "M" made a great addition to our monogramed letter wall.

Supplies:

  • Medium Size Wood Letter - mine is from Walmart
  • White Acrylic Paint
  • Sponge Paint Brush
  • Variety of Buttons (100+ depending on size)
  • Wall Hanger - I used 2 soda tabs
  • Hot Glue Gun & Glue Stick

How To:

1. Paint the wood letter a solid color. The letter doesn't have to be painted very well because you will be covering it with buttons. Make sure to cover the sides of your letter. Let Dry.

I painted my letter white because I wanted the buttons to stand out. You can buy a white wood letter at most craft stores. I bought a solid wood letter and painted it because I didn't like the style of the white letters at the store.

2. Line up the buttons on the letter to make sure they fit and that you have enough to cover the entire letter. Carefully move the buttons off the letter.

I used around 95 buttons both big and small. My Grandmother sews and has a sewing room full of fabric, ribbon, yarn and you guessed it, buttons. She has thousands of buttons in every shape, size and color. So of course I went button crazy because my Grandma let me pick out what buttons I wanted. If you don't have access to buttons you can find them in the sewing or craft section at most craft stores or supermarkets.

3. Pick a corner of the letter and begin hot glueing the buttons onto the letter until the letter is fully covered and you are satisfied with how your letter looks.

Remove any strings left from the hot glue gun. A dot of glue should be enough to hold the buttons on the letter.

4. Add a hanger if your letter doesn't come with one attached. I hot glued two soda tabs to the back of my "M" so I could hang it. You can use whatever type of hanger you like, this was just a quick, easy  and free alternative.

5. Hang your new Button Monogramed Letter on the wall and you're done!

The Button Monogramed Letter is easy to make but can be time consuming. Trying to place all of the buttons on the "M" turned into a puzzle. It took a while to figure out what buttons would fit where to cover as much of the white as possible but it was worth it.

You can make the Button Monogramed Letter in any color you prefer but I do recommend using a medium or large wood letter because a small letter won't be able to fit any buttons but the supper tiny buttons. The Button Monogramed Letter is a great decoration for a kid's room, a nursery or a monogramed wall. You can make it as a gift for somebody or as a decoration for your home. You can spell out your child's name with the button letters or just make an initial like I did. The possibilities are endless when it comes to decorating monogramed letters.
