I love candy. My husband loves candy. My kids love candy. Most people like some sort of candy whither it's chocolate, sweet, sour, chewy, or hard candy. Candy can be addicting especially when you are stuck at home binge watching and snacking but unfortunately candy isn't healthy for you.

My husband and I try to limit our children's candy intake. I know I won't always be able to monitor what my kids eat but I'm going to do my best to limit their sweet intake while they are still young. My kids get sweets for birthdays and parties along with holidays and special occasions. They are currently on a sticker chart and if they get five stickers, a piece of candy is one of the prize options. The sticker chart actually all stared because my boys got into the candy drawer on more than one occasion, ate a ton of candy and tried to hide and lie about the evidence but that's a story for a different time.

Since Easter is just around the corner, I wanted to come up with a list of some candy alternatives. Since the kids are currently stuck at home, we don't need them bouncing off the wall any more than they already are.

I will say I already bought some Easter candy for this year but I still like to add candy alternatives to my kids Easter baskets. The Dollar Tree is a great place to find Easter Basket fillers. They have a great selection from silly putty to puzzles to crafts and toys all for a $1.

Incase you can't make it out due to the current situation, I linked most of the items to products on  Amazon (affiliate links). Amazon isn't always to cheapest bought but at least it will be delivered to your door.

There are a variety of items listed below that are great for your child's Easter basket. There is something listed for kids of all ages but most are for younger kids.

Some candy alternatives include:

Toys:

Clothing / Bath & Body:

As you can tell, there are several candy alternatives to help fill your child's Easter basket. Keep in mind your child's age and what they like when picking out items. Every year is different of coarse but my little one's baskets usually have a DVD, a book, a toy, something healthy to eat, and something sweet. I also like adding a swim suit if needed or something learning related (a book, puzzle, game, craft).
