This is part 4 of a series of blogs I am writing on LulaRoe and the products they make. This blog is going to focus on LulaRoe Skirts - what they are and different ways to wear an Azure, Cassie, Jill & Maxi skirt. No I am not a LulaRoe consultant or a LulaRoe expert and I did not partner with any LulaRoe consultant for these blogs. I just have several of their items and am going to share my opinion about the items I have in hopes of helping you decide whether or not to try that item and if so, what size you may need.

Before we get started I want to say that these picture were taken 3.5 months postpartum with my third baby in three years and I am hoping to lose some of my baby weight but in hopes of helping you figure out what size you need, I am 5'7, roughly 150 pounds and currently wear a size 9 in jeans (Juniors section), 8/10 in most dresses. On average I wear a Large from the Juniors section and a Small or Medium in the Women's section depending on how it's made.

LulaRoe currently has seven adult skirts and three kid's skirts.  Each skirt varies in length, material, style, size and price.
  • Azure - $35
  • Cassie - $35
  • Jill - $55
  • Lola - $46
  • Lucy - $52
  • Madison - $46
  • Maxi - $42
  • Kid's Azure - $25
  • Kid's Cassie - $24
  • Kid's Maxi - $28 *discontinued

Above is a picture of the different lengths and widths of the four different skirts I currently own. All four of the LulaRoe skirts pictured are a size Medium. The blue skirt on top is a Cassie pencil skirt, the two under it re Jill and Azure - they are about the same length as the Lola and Madison to the best of my knowledge. As you can tell they both flare out the same distance but look completely different on. The bottom skirt is a Maxi. I hope this picture helps give you a better understanding of the difference in the skirts.

I personally do not own the Lola, Lucy, Madison or any of the Kid's Skirts so I will not be touching on them in this blog but you can find out more information about them on LulaRoe's websitelularoe.comor an internet search. I am dying to try a Madison so if I end up getting her or any of the other skirts I will update my blog with them!

Azure

The Azure sizes range from XXS(00-0) to 3XL(24-26). I've noticed that there are two different size charts floating around out there so I'm not sure exactly which one is correct but I decided to go with a medium Azure which I thought was a 6-8 but might actually be a 10-12. I want to say the Azure runs true to size since I seem to be a Medium in most LulaRoe skirts but I can't be sure since I've only tried a Medium Azure, either way I fall in-between sizes so I can most likely wear a small and a medium Azure. The Azure retails for $35 plus state taxes and shipping. Visit LulaRoe's website, lularoe.com/azure, to see what they say about the Azure!

You can style the Azure skirt in several different ways, here are some ideas: high waisted shirt tucked in, low waisted shirt tucked in, as a dress, halter top, knotted top, dress with leggings (I don't have any that match so I paired it with jeans but it would be a super cute outfit!), shawl, cover, mid waisted shirt untucked (Perfect T & Azure). You can also fold over the waistband to make the skirt shorter or tighter. I personally prefer Azure as a top/dress to a skirt. I'm sure there are several other ways to wear an Azure but these are just a few ways to help you get started!

My favorite ways to wear Azure are as a dress, as a knotted top or paired with a Perfect T - the flowingness of the Perfect T and Azure run perfect together! Below is a medium Azure worn as a dress. If you look closely at the side views you can see a slight difference in length. If you reverse the Azure and wear it as a dress it will be longer in the front and resembles more of a dress. Add a belt and you are set!

The Azure's I am wearing are both size Medium and they are made out of a knit material that makes them super stretchy and lightweight. This is an A-line skirt with a yoga style waistband. The medium is a little big on me mainly because of the stretchy material so if they come in different materials then you may need different sizes; I honestly probably needed a Small in this material waist wise so wear as a skirt but if I a Medium is the perfect length for a spring/summer dress! I personally feel like the Azure is overpriced and that it is a shorter version of the Maxi skirt...shouldn't it be half the price two? Azure is more versatile than other skirts but you can't wear it as many ways as I would like because of it's length.

Cassie (Pencil Skirt)

Cassie is a fitted pencil skirt that you can dress up or dress down. Cassie isn't like most pencil skirts because it comes in a stretchy, textured material or at least all the one's I've seen do. The Cassie sizes range from XS(2-4) to 3XL(24-26). Some of the Cassie's run true to size while others are made with more of a jacquard type fabric that makes them run a little smaller so depending on the fabric you may need to go up a size. The Cassie retails for $35 plus state taxes and shipping. Visit LulaRoe's website, lularoe.com/cassie to see what they say about the Cassie!

Cassie size comparison, Cassie comparison, LulaRoe Cassie size comparison, LulaRoe Cassie comparison, Cassie, Cassie Pencil Skirt, LulaRoe, LulaRoe CassieI was super excited to try Cassie because I loved how it looked in all the pictures. I was unsure of what size I would need because I couldn't find any information on how they ran and like most of LulaRoe's products, I fall in-between sizes. When I opened my Lula package I was very disappointed because I was sent the wrong size, an XS(2-4). I was able to squeeze into an XS but I personally didn't feel comfortable in it because it was tighter than I wanted.

Next I tried a Small(6-8). I loved the pattern of it(blue/pink pictured right) but was still unsure of the size, mainly because I still have a little baby belly so am not currently use to tighter clothes. As far as the small hot pink zebra pattern, I couldn't pass it up! The Medium(10-12) Cassie is definitely bigger than the small, as you can tell in the picture to the right comparing a small and medium Cassie.

The Medium is slightly loose on me but it's just the right amount of big to tuck a shirt into it. I am still unsure if I like the fit of the small or medium Cassie better because they both fit pretty well so if you happen to fall in love with a pattern you can most likely comfortably fit in more than one size! As far as material goes, Cassie was thicker than I was expecting. Out of the four skirts I own (Cassie, Azure, Jill, Maxi), this is the thickest one, I would compare it to at least double or triple the thickness of those bod-con skirts that use to be popular - totally different material and a lot nicer fit though

Yes Cassie is considered a pencil skirt but you can also wear Cassie as a tube top or an infinity scarf.  Simply place the waistband around your chest to wear Cassie as a tube top, add a belt, cardigan, necklace, etc... to dress it up or down. To turn Cassie into an infinity scarf just fold in the top and bottom of the Cassie and bunch it together so you don't see the white inside of the skirt.

Cassie isn't super versatile when it comes to ways to wear it but it is super versatile when it comes to ways to style it. Cassie pairs great with all the LulaRoe tops. Yes you can mix and match all the LuLaRoe products but mix and matching with Cassie is my favorite so far. Cassie goes great with a Classic T, Perfect T, Irma, and even Lindsay. You can also wear Cassie paired with a knotted Carly, Cassie as a scarf with Amelia or Nicole; you can ever wear Cassie with a Maxi by wearing Cassie as a tube top and Maxi as a skirt just be careful that the materials don't clash (Not pictured because I didn't have a Cassie and Maxi that matched). Below are pictures of Cassie paired with different LulaRoe items to help show you some different ways to style your Cassie. I think my favorite is Cassie paired with a knotted Irma.

Jill

The Jill is a pleated skirt made of CVC and Rose skin. It also has a thick, black, elastic waist band that allows for you to easily move the skirt up or down to create a different look. The Jill sizes range from XXS(00-0) to 2XL(20-22). The Jill runs true to size. The Jill retails for $55 plus state taxes and shipping. Visit LulaRoe's website, lularoe.com/maxi (yes I know it says Maxi but it takes you to the Jill so I guess LulaRoe messed up their title...oops), to see what they say about the Jill!

Guess what... I actually fall into Jill's size range and not in-between sizes like all the other skirts I have tried. Pictured is a Medium(8-10) Jill. At first I was hesitant on this skirt because I don't think I have ever worn pleated anything but I gave it a try and it honestly isn't that bad. I wear a size 9 jeans and an 8/10 dress and the medium Jill fit me perfect. The fabric is very light and breezy so it is perfect for those spring and summer days. So far the only thing I have not liked about the Jill is that it is supper clingy and kept sticking to my body so I had to get a fabric sheet to remove some of the static. The Jill isn't very versatile but the elastic band does allow for you to adjust the skirt length wise and even turn it into a cute dress. Below is the Jill placed at my hips, below my chest, and above my chest to make it look like a dress.

As far as styling goes, I tried the basics by tucking my shirt in or leaving it untucked. I even added a Lindsay to try and give it a different look.

Lola

The Lola skirt is a beautiful skirt that comes in both lace and chiffon that hangs four inches longer than the underneath lining. It also has a thick, black, elastic waist band that allows for you to easily move the skirt up or down to create a different look. The Lola sizes range from XXS(00-0) to 2XL(20-22). The Lola runs true to size. The Lola retails for $46 plus state taxes and shipping. Visit LulaRoe's website, lularoe.com/lola to see what they say about the Lola!

Guess what... I caught myself a unicorn and this unicorn is actually beautiful. The pictures don't do my solid black skirt justice so I took a close up to show all the detail in the chiffon material. Incase you don't know, pretty much any solid black item in the LulaRoe world is considered a unicorn aka rare.

Pictured is a Medium(8-10) Lola. I wear an 8/10 dress and the medium Lola fit me pretty good. It was a little big in my waist but I honestly don't think a small would fit me. The Lola isn't very versatile,   about the same versatilely of the Jill skirt, but the elastic band does allow for you to adjust the skirt length wise and even turn it into a cute dress. Below is the Lola placed below my chest, at my hips and above my chest to make it look like a dress. You can tuck or untuck your top and add a belt to give off different looks. Even though Lola isn't very versatile, I think it is my new favorite skirt. The fit, the look, and the flowingness are all beautiful. I can't wait to get my hands on a lace one!

Maxi

The Maxi skirt was the first product LulaRoe launched. LulaRoe advertises the Maxi as a floor length skirt but it can also be worn as a dress, top, cover, scarf, etc. The Maxi is LulaRoe's most versatile product. The Maxi sizes range from XXS(00-0) to 3XL(24-26). The Maxi retails for $42 plus state taxes and shipping. Visit LulaRoe's website, lularoe.com/maxi, to see what they say about the Maxi!

LulaRoe Maxi skirt material comparison, LulaRoe Maxi skirt, material comparison, LulaRoe Maxi
The Maxi supposedly runs big so consultants recommend sizing down one or two sizes depending on the material. I personally don't think it runs that big. I currently am a size 9 jeans, 8/10 dress and am 5'7. The Maxi size charts say that a Smal is a 6-8 and a Medium is a 10-12. As usual, I fall in-between sizes but I can comfortably wear a Small(6-8) Maxi. The only reason I can think consultants say Maxi runs big is because the average height of a woman is 5'4 and as you can tell the Maxi touches the floor on me. I guess depending on your height, length wise you may need to go down one or two sizes but width wise I would only go down one if at all. If you need the width but not the length you can always hack your Maxi by folding over the waistband.

I don't know much about fabric types but both the red/black and feather Maxi are made out of 96% Polyester & 4% Spandex yet they are both completely different fabrics. The red/black Maxi feels more like a t-shirt material that doesn't stretch and the feather Maxi feels softer, silkier and stretches like crazy (same material as my orange Azure). If you look closely, the red/black Maxi looks white around my chest in the below picture or in  my hip area in the picture above. It looks like that because the fabric is not that stretchy so when stretched, the white backing shows through. The red dress material also makes it harder to style because it is thicker and doesn't stretch as well.

The Maxi is the most versatile product that LulaRoe has. Pictured below are twenty, yes twenty different ways to wear the Maxi, and guess what... there are MORE! These are just some of the ways to wear your Maxi, who knew a skirt could be so versatile?!?! I'm going to briefly touch on the different ways to wear your Maxi skirt but if you google "ways to wear LulaRoe Maxi" you will get several video tutorials on exactly how to hack your Maxi.

I put my hair up on purpose to give you a better idea of how to hack your Maxi and what it will look like. Since it is hard to see some of the ways to wear your Maxi above, here are some close ups. LulaRoe advertises Maxi as a skirt and this is what it looks like as a skirt. You can tuck your shirt in, leave your shirt untucked, belt it, knot your shirt or even knot your Maxi. I am wearing a Small Classic T and a Small Maxi (stretchy material) in the pictures labeled Maxi as a skirt.

Maxi can also be worn as a dress. Below are ten different ways you can turn LulaRoe's Maxi skirt into a dress. I will try to describe how to hack your maxi so it looks like the dresses/tops pictured.

Dresses drom left to right:
1. Place the waistband above your chest and you have a dress.
2. Place the waistband above your chest and knot the bottom of your Maxi.
3. Place the waistband above your chest, make bunny ears with the middle part of your Maxi and wrap a hair-tie around the bunny ears. Carefully spread out the two bunny ears and you have what looks like a bow. Sorry it's hard to tell because of the pattern.
4. Place the waistband above your chest, add a thin belt around your waist, pull the Maxi up through the belt till it is at a length you like and let it hang over the belt. This is one way to shorten it. The pattern helps it all blend together.
5. To be honest I don't remember exactly how I hacked the Maxi for this dress but I believe I put the Maxi on upside-down so the waistband was around my thighs then I tucked the bottom part of the Maxi (now top) into the inside and added a belt to hold it together.

Dresses from left to right:
1. Place the waistband around your thighs (Upside Down Maxi), pull the material into two sections and knot it or tie it with a hair-tie around your neck.
2. Place the waistband around your thighs (Upside Down Maxi), pull the material into two sections, cross the two sections in front of your neck then knot it or tie it with a hair-tie around your neck.
3. Place one arm and your head through the waistband, pull the material up so your arm is out the other side. Add a belt to hold the material together. Pull the back material as far as you can to the front then pull the front material as far as you can to the back so it overlaps, covering your side.
4. Place the waistband around your thighs (Upside Down Maxi), pull the front and back of the material together over your shoulder and tie. Repeat for the other shoulder.
5. Place the waistband around your thighs (Upside Down Maxi), pull part of the front and back of the material together over your shoulder and tie. pull the rest together by your elbow and tie. Repeat for the other arm. You may need to go up a size for this dress.

I am wearing a small, stretchy Maxi and was able to hack it to make theses dresses. I had to use hair-ties or the small plastic hair-ties to tie parts of the Maxi together though because I didn't have enough material to knot it. It could be due to my height though but if you want to be able to tie your Maxi by knotting it and not using hair-ties then I recommend going up a size, especially if the Maxi is not made out of this stretchy material. I hacked my red/black Maxi to make several of theses dresses but wasn't a fan because the material was harder to tie, tighter in the waistband and because of the material you could see the white backing of the dress through the pattern. (See material comparison above.)

Tops, Covers, Scarf:
Left: 1. Place the waistband around your neck to make it look like a shawl.
2.Place the waistband around your waist but upside down, pull the material in the back up and over your shoulders, wrapping it under your arms and knot or tie the sides together with a hair-tie in the back. You may need to go up a size for this top.

Middle:  1. Place the waistband around your waist but upside down, pull the material into two sections and knot it or tie it with a hair-tie around your neck. (same as the first dress pictured above)
           2. Place the waistband around your chest, grab the front of the Maxi and bunch up the material, pull it over your head to the back of your neck (it should look like the bottom right picture). Position the material over your chest, overlapping the sides and add a belt to hold it.

Right:1. Roll and twist the Maxi until you like the way it looks and wear it as an infinity scarf.
          2. Place the waistband around your chest, grab the front of the Maxi and bunch up the material, pull it over your head to the back of your neck.

Sorry if the descriptions are confusing but it's hard to explain without showing you. If you need help you can always look up Maxi hacks on the internet. As you can tell the Maxi is very versatile and looks great several different ways. The Maxi would make for a great piece to pack for a vacation that you are unsure what you are doing as you can dress it up or down for any occasion. I would recommend finding a cute print and giving Maxi a try, if you think about it you are paying $42 for 20+ different looks which isn't bad at all!
_____________________________________________________

Hopefully this blog helped you get a better understanding of what skirt LulaRoe has, how they fit and different ways to wear/style/hack your skirts. As you can tell LulaRoe skirts all run different. They come in different materials, styles, sizes, and colors - patterns and solids. I feel like LulaRoe skirts vary the most when it comes to material and styles. LulaRoe clothing is considered unique because they only produce about 2,500 items in a specific print so if you happen to come across a pattern you like I recommend buying it because once it is gone, it may be gone forever. LulaRoe is designed to fit several different body types and all items fit people differently depending on their build and the size of the item. LulaRoe is also designed so that you can fit in several different sizes to give off different looks so if you happen to come across a pattern you love but it isn't your size you may be able to still make it work. Before you buy make sure to check out each item's size chart and how that specific item runs because each LulaRoe item has it's own size chart and some items run big, some run small and others run true to size.

Overall I would recommend giving LulaRoe a try if you can afford it. Yes I think most of their items are overpriced but I'm also a super big clearance shopper and some of LulaRoe items aren't that bad. Every item has it's pros and cons and everybody has a different sense of fashion so it may take a while to find an item you really love. If you are still unsure, then visit a "pop up" boutique in your area and try on some different styles to figure out what size and style you prefer for your body type, then go online and join a bunch of consultant's groups and enter contest in hopes of winning LulaRoe or Lulacash that way if you end up not liking the products, you aren't out as much money, if any. I also recommend looking for Muli-consultant sales or consultants that have Bargain Bins, offer free shipping or are in a no tax states to help save a few bucks (It is rumored that LulaRoe is changing taxes to match the shoppers state tax no matter what state you purchase from). If I end up getting any different sizes or styles I will update my blog to help show you the difference in sizes and possibly a few more ways to wear that style in that size. If you are looking for more information on LulaRoe, what other items they carry and how to style them you can check out my LulaRoe related blogs below or you can visit LulaRoe's website, lularoe.com, to find out more information about the company!

Everybody I know that has tried LulaRoe has an opinion on it so feel free to share your's below, all I ask is that you keep it clean!
