Since it's October and Halloween is just around the corner I'm going to share with you one of our past Halloween Costumes. My husband is a huge Mickey Mouse fan so for our first Halloween (2011) together we went as Mickey and Minnie Mouse.
We kept the costumes simple and they were pretty easy to make once we found all the supplies. Our costumes were a huge hit at the Halloween Party and we got several compliments saying we were the cutest couple but there wasn't a contest to make it official.
Minnie Mouse:
Supplies:
- Ears with Bow - tutorial below
- White costume gloves -any Halloween store should have them $2
- Black Sharpie
- Black Face Paint/Black eye liner - Optional
- 1 White Adhesive Felt Sheet - $1
- Scissors
- Black shirt
- Red Tutu - $15 at Target
- Heels/Shoes - Black, Red or Yellow
How To:
Skirt: Cut out several white circles from the Adhesive Felt, peel off the back and stick all over your red tutu.
Gloves: Using a Sharpie, draw 3 black lines on both the white gloves.
Face: I used eye liner to draw the whiskers and borrowed some black face paint from a friend for the nose. This is Optional.
Ears: See below

Get dressed and make sure to tuck in your shirt in. I wore a black shirt and black heels that I already had to save money but you can wear any kind of shoes you prefer. Add your gloves, ears and face paint to make your Minnie Mouse costume complete!

How to make Mickey and Minnie Ears:
Supplies:
- 2 - 4 pieces of Black Felt - .20¢ to .40¢
- 2 head bands preferably black
- Scissors
- Hot Glue Gun and glue sticks
- Red Bow with White Polka Dots
How To:
1. Take the felt and cut out 8 circles with a little rectangle shape left at the bottom, kind of like a light bulb but rounder.
2. Hot glue 2 circles together leaving the rectangle part loose. Repeat until all 4 ears are made.
3. Wrap and hot glue the rectangle part around the head bands until it is secure. Repeat until all four are on the head bands. Each head band should have two ears.
NOTE: One of my head bands was black and white so I used a sharpie and colored it black.
4. Attach the bow to one set of the ears for Minnie Mouse. I used a bobby pin to secure the bow onto mine.
I hope you enjoyed this tutorial and your costumes turn out as great as ours. Mickey and Minnie are pretty easy costumes to pull off and great for a last minute costume.
