Halloween Milk Jug Ghost Decorations

For the last four years, every time fall hits, I start saving milk jugs. Milk jugs may sound like a crazy thing to save but they make for a cute and FREE fall decoration!

Ever since we moved into my house in 2014 I have been working on making decorations to help spice it up a little over the holidays. It all started with a few milk jugs and pumpkins. Being that we had moved into our home in the fall, we didn't have a lot of decorations or time to go out and spend money we didn't have on decorations so I got creative and turned a few milk jugs into ghost. 

Below is a picture of our first milk jug ghost's in 2014.

Ever since, I have made a few milk jug ghost to help decorate the outside of our house around Halloween time. Last year I kept the milk jug decorations going through the winter holiday by turning them into Milk Jug Snowmen.

Milk jug ghost are super easy to make and you can make them out of supplies you already have around the house - empty milk jugs and sharpies.

Make sure to rinse out the milk jugs because nobody likes the smell of spoiled milk and let them air dry. 

You can remove the label if you want but you don't have to because you won't see it once set against a wall.

Also make sure the milk jugs have a flat side to them so you can draw the faces on a flat surface.

Using the sharpies, draw ghost or pumpkin faces on the flat side. You can make any kind of face you want or any expression.

Place around the house or fill with a little bit of water and set outside so they won't blow away and  you're done! 

Now you have a cute, practically free decoration for inside or outside your house. You can also cut a hole in the back of an empty milk jug and stick some battery operated tealights in them to make them light up. 

The milk jug ghosts are a super easy decoration to make. You can even have your children draw the ghost faces on the milk jugs if you want to get them involved. This would be a fun activity for the whole family to join in on. I love that you can make the ghost look different every year and the best part is you are temporarily repurposing the milk jugs to make a free holiday decoration!
