Free Chick-fil-a Cow Appreciation Day Costumes for the whole family

I don't know about you but I love Chick-fil-a especially when they give away free food. Who can say no to free Chick-fil-a?

Last July (2017) my family and I went to Chick-fil-a and participated in their 13th Annual Cow Appreciation Day. This was the second time we participated in their cow day but the first time we wore costumes. The year before we just wore a cow hat that the restaurant passed out to the kids a few days prior.

For those of you who don't know, every year Chick-fil-a has a Cow Appreciation Day in July. Basically you go into Chick-fil-a dressed as a cow and you get a FREE entree. As long as you wear anything cow related you get a free entree to the best of my knowledge. You have to pay fo any added food or beverages but the entree is usually the most expensive part anyways. My family of coarse dines in and orders more to go with our meal but we paid around $5 for a family of five which is a good deal to me.

Cow Appreciation Day is usually the second Tuesday in July.

The day before Chick-fil-a's Cow Day, I made these cute signs that had a dairy cow's face on them along with Chick-fil-a's tag line "Eat Mor Chikin". They were really easy to make and didn't cost me a thing because I had all the supplies at home.

My husband, daughter and I wore these signs while my son's wore a cow costume and and outfit with a cow on it - yes they gave us a free entree for the baby as well because he had a cow on him. My two year old was a huge hit in his cow costume!

UPDATE: Today is Chick-fil-a's Cow Appreciation Day 2018. I made two more signs for my boys. One said "Moo" and the other said "Cluck". You can easily make cow signs for the whole family. Change the eye color, hair, add a bow, etc.

As long as you are wearing something dairy cow related you should qualify for the free entree. If you are like me and don't own anything dairy cow related then theses signs are and easy and cheap way to dress up for Cow Appreciation Day.

Below are some pictures of my family celebrating Cow Appreciation Day:
Chick-fil-a Cow Appreciation Day 2016

In 2017 the cow was out and about. The little ones liked the cow from a distance but not up close as you can tell, plus the sun didn't help. Last time we ate at Chick-fil-a my kids were obsessed with the cow and played hide and seek with him so I guess it depends on the day!

We just celebrated Cow Appreciation Day yesterday (July 9, 2019) at our local Chick-fil-a. As usual it ws pretty crowded but it's crowded on a normal day at lunch time. Both my husband and I got a FREE Entree and the kids all got a FREE kids meal along with a mini Chick-fil-a cow plush. My sons loved the Chick-fil-a cows. From high fives to laughing and playing peek-a-boo; who knew a cow could bring such joy to my kids!

How to make an easy & free Cow Costume

Supplies:

  • Card-stock Paper
  • Markers
  • Hole Puncher
  • String, Twine or Ribbon

How To:

1. Draw a cow or a cow face on the card-stock.
I used card-stock because it is thicker than regular paper so is less likely to tear.

2. Hole punch two holes at the top of the card-stock. One on each side.

3. Thread your string, twine or ribbon through each hole and tie a knot on both sides so it resembles a necklace.

4. Wear a black or white shirt and put your cow sign on when you get to the restaurant.

Theses signs are super easy to make and free if you have all the supplies. You can use regular paper if want and anything you have to make it hang around your neck. This is also an easy way to dress up for Halloween or a last minute school costume. I kept my signs and are planning on using them again every year until they get destroyed.

I have seen tons of cute dairy cow outfits on Cow Appreciation Day from cow onesies to a solid black or white shirt with a few cow spots cut out from paper taped to their shirt to cow vests to a dairy cow pattern printed and taped to them. It crazy how many different ways you can wear dairy cow spots. Have some fun with it!!!
