Frozen Inspired Birthday Party

These past few months have been crazy getting use to being a family of six. Not only did we have a new baby and celebrate all the fall/winter holidays, my husband graduated with his Master's Degree  (YAY!!!) the night before our daughter's birthday party so most of the food and decorations had to be made the day of the party. We had a busy weekend/week with his graduation, her party, her birthday, and Christmas activities but it all ended up working out!

This past December we threw my daughter a Frozen inspired party. My daughter had told all our relatives she was having a Frozen Party. She told them before she even knew the new movie was coming out which I thought was funny. I actually found a video of her around her fifth birthday saying she was going to have a unicorn party, a Frozen party, then a butterfly party. It's weird, but kinda cool that we had a Frozen party. Maybe she secretly had it all planned.

Since she had told everyone she was having a Frozen party, I planned her a Frozen party. We invited the family down to celebrate the weekend before, ate some food, watched Frozen on repeat, played a game and had a blast. Frozen was a great theme for her winter birthday!

A few weeks before her party we found Anna & Elsa at our local library. Of coarse we had to go. We used this picture on the invite to invite everyone to the "Coolest" party in town and to "Chill" with us.

For her party, my daughter wore an Elsa shirt she already had with a silver sparkly skirt. I French braided her hair to the side and put in a Frozen hair tie. We started watching Frozen and waited for the guests to arrive. I think we played Frozen three times before we finally turned it off?!

The Food
I tried to match the food to the theme by using quotes and characters from the first movie.

The party food consisted of:
  • Sven's Ice Chips - Chips
  • Trolls - Frozen themed Ding Dongs that ended up being mint filled
  • Elsa's Icicles - Frozen themed Go-Gurts
  • Olaf's Nose - Carrots and Fiesta Ranch Dip
  • "We Finish each others... Sandwiches" - Turkey & Ham Sandwiches
  • Anna's Frozen Heart - Chocolate Covered Strawberries
  • A kiss the thaw a Frozen heart - Hershey Kisses
  • Kristoff's Ice Blocks - Blue Jello cut into cubes
  • "Do you wanna build a Snowman Mix?" -  Trail mix: pretzels, mini marshmallows, chocolate chips, raisins, candy corn

You can't forget the ice cream, especially for a Frozen themed party. We picked out Vanilla ice cream and let my daughter pick the other flavor. She picked a unicorn candy ice cream that was blue, pink and yellow. The ice cream was served with the cake.

It may be hard to see but the water has a carrot and two raisins in it to look like a melted snowman. It was labeled "Some people are worth melting for".

The Cake
One thing my daughter asked for her birthday was to help with the cake. I had originally planned on making it the day before while she was at school because of my husband's graduation but I would of felt bad since that was one thing she asked for.

The cake was a team effort. My husband and daughter mixed the ingredients and baked the cake then my daughter and I decorated the cake to match the theme. This was her first time frosting a cake and I think she did a super good job!

She frosted the in-between layer and the crumb layer of the cake all by herself! I frosted the blue and purple design then we all added some mini candy pearls for decoration. I bought mini Anna & Elsa figures at Meijer (BOGO 50% off!) and a candle to finish decorating the cake.

The cake turned out pretty cool! I honestly don't think the pictures do it justice. My daughter was super excited and told everyone she helped make the cake!

The Game - Do you wanna build a snowman?
I'm sure you've heard of the toilet paper wedding dress game or the mummy game. If not, this is similar but a lot less designing. Basically you have at least two teams. You then take turns wrapping up a person to look like a snowman. You add the face and the best looking snowman wins!

Make the snowman eyes, nose and buttons before hand. I made enough to make four snowmen. Add double sided tape to the back of the pieces to make it easier to play or just have tape on hand to make it more difficult and get more people involved.

We played the game twice. First the kids were wrapped up to look like snowman and then the kids wrapped up their father and uncle to look like snowman.

Here are the final snowmen, who do you think is the winner? Comment Below!!!

They had a blast and after it was done, the kids had a "snowball" fight aka they took all the loose toilet paper and threw it at everyone. Who knew something as simple as toilet paper could be so much fun for the kids!

I couldn't help but share this adorable picture of the birthday girl and her father!

Our Elf on the Shelf, Luna, even got in on the game. She decorated our Christmas tree to look like Olaf. I guess she was showing the kids what they needed to do for the game.

The Decorations
Aside from the themed food and cake; purple and blue table cloth, cups and plates...

My kids and I cut out some paper snowflakes and hung them around the house. This is a fun way to get the kids involved. I had to fold the paper and round off the paper but they were able to make snowflakes with the kid friendly scissors.

I bought a Frozen 2 "Happy Birthday" banner from Walmart and hung it with the snowflakes.

I found all the Frozen themed toys in our house and set them out around the house. I decorated the table with all the Olafs and put the rest of the plushes on the couch. I set the larger dolls up with the supplies for the "Do you wanna build a snowman?" game and set the smaller dolls and characters out with the food.

Overall it was a really good party. My daughter got a ton of Frozen toys including a Frozen Karaoke machine, Frozen Guitar, Frozen activity books, Frozen clothes, toys, and more!

The Frozen party theme is a fun party theme for kids that love the movie Frozen. It was easy to throw since Frozen 2 had just came out and it was December but if not, you can easily make homemade snowflakes and find purple and aqua party decorations - plates, cups, streamers. I hope your little one's party turns out as magical as my daughters did!

For her birthday, my husband and I took our daughter to see Frozen 2 and made her orange chicken & rice, her newest food obsession. She was super excited! Below are a few more pictures of her birthday festivities!
