When we found out we were pregnant with our third child in less than three years we decided to throw ourselves a Diaper & Beer Party. We already had all the necessities for a baby along with plenty of baby toys and clothes since we already had a boy and girl but we did not have diapers. Anybody that has ever had a baby and bought diapers knows that they can add up fast so what better way to celebrate the arrival of our newest addition than by celebrating with friends and family and having a Diaper & Beer Party.
The Diaper & Beer Party took place at the end of July 2017, about two in a half months before our little one made his debut. I know I'm a little late posting this but I forgot to take pictures so had to gather some from the family so picture credit goes out to our family, thanks!
There are a couple ways you can go about having a Diaper & Beer Party. In our case, we invited everyone to our house, grilled out, talked and played lawn games such as corn hole and beers-bee. Other ways include inviting your guest to dinner at a restaurant such as Buffalo Wild Wings or Casa so your guests can order foods and drink as they please and it's cheaper on your part.
You can also have a party similar to ours but instead of just playing lawn games, plan a beer olympics competition for your guest that want to participate. Of coarse the mommy to be won't be drinking but she can be the referee for those close calls and remember, don't drink and drive!

GAMES:
We only had the first two lawn games but there are several other games you can play such as:
- Corn Hole
- Beers-bee
- Guess How Many
- Words for the Wee Hours
- Beer Olympics - The Best Sucker Contest is perfect
- Pacifier Beer Pong
- Blindfolded Diaper Changing
- Matching Baby Socks Relay
- Pin the Sperm on the Egg OR Pin the Diaper/Bottle/Pacifier on the Baby
- "The Price is Right" baby item addition
- Bib, Onesie, or Monogram letter decoration station
- Guess the food - baby food or melted candy bars in diapers
- Jumbo Jenga
- Tic Tac Toe
- Twister
- Ring Toss
- Ladder Golf
- Hoarse Shoes
- Card/Board Games
You can play any game you prefer. All you have to do is search baby shower games or yard games and several different ideas will pop up.
As far as food goes, my husband grilled out and both our mothers brought some sides. We also made some potato salad and desserts for the party. Needless to say we had more than enough food. Here's a list of what we had:
- Burgers
- Hotdogs
- Toppings & Condiments - Pickles, Tomato, Lettuce, Cheese, Mayo, Mustard, Ketchup
- Baked Beans
- Mac and Cheese
- Chips, Pretzels, Cheese Balls
- Fries in a cup
- Pretzel Bowl & Cheese *not pictured
- Vegetable Tray - Carrots, Cucumber, Celery
- Fruit Bowl - Watermelon, Strawberries, Cantaloupe, Grapes, Blueberries
- Potato Salad
- Pretzel Salad
- Puppy Chow
- Rice Krispie Treats
- Chocolate Chip Cookies
- Dirt Pudding
We originally were going to have all appetizers such as chicken wings, pretzels, mozzarella sticks, etc. Basically food that goes good with beer but we weren't sure it would be enough food for everybody so decided to grill out instead.
BEVERAGES
We had the basic beverages such as:
- Sweet Tea
- Water
- 2Liters
- Juice Boxes for the kids
- "Mommy Mocktail" - Blue Hawaiian Punch, 7-Up & Raspberry Sorbet
- Beer
The Diaper & Beer Party was BYOB since everybody likes different beverages but we did have a beer cake and a few different beers incase anybody forgot.
The Beer Cake was a huge hit. Since we were hosting a Diaper & Beer Party and the nursery had a whale theme I came up with a cute saying for the cake, "Baby Lincoln is BREWing so lets have a WHALE of a good time!" You can check out my blog, Beer Can Cake Tutorial, for directions and more pictures of the beer cake.
DECORATIONS
We didn't really decorate as much as we usually do since the majority of the time our guest would be outside but we did use red and blue table clothes, had a tent set up for shade and made a beer cake with whales on it for our table decoration. If you want to decorate, go for it!
As far as our Diaper & Beer Party went, we all had a good time and got tons of diapers for our little guy. We even got a cool double stroller and some cloth diapers - they make the best burp cloths. Hopefully this blog gave you a few ideas for throwing a simple couple's baby shower.
