This past weekend I was fortunate enough to stand by my sister's side on a day she will remember for years to come. In honor of my baby sister getting married this past weekend, I want to share with you some of her Bachelorette party. I was the Matron of Honor so I had the honor of planning and throwing her a bachelorette party!

I tried my best to keep it budget friendly for everyone and Covid-19 friendly all while keeping the bride in mind. For anyone that knows me, the after party was full of several DIY decorations and games.

Step 1 - Ask the Bride
Find out what the bride-to-be prefers, who she want's invited, and go from there. Maybe she wants a more laid back party, a night out on the town, a sleepover, or maybe even a destination.

Step 2 - Plan It Out
Figure out all the W's of the party - who, what, where, when. You can come up with a few ideas and have the ladies invited take a poll to see what dates works best and what option they are comfortable with. Call all the locations to make sure they are open that date, time, and can host that big of a party. Make hotel reservations if needed.

Our Bachelorette Party itinerary was a flirty chair dancing class followed by dinner at a restaurant with outdoor seating, a bar, and live music then back to my basement for gifts, games, and a stock the bar party.

Step 3 - Invite Everyone
Send out an invitation or two or three depending on what is going on. Since the times were not yet set in stone due to current world events, I sent out a virtual Save the Date a month in advance. About two weeks before the party I sent the official invitations with the time and location of each event. I made a few different invites since the bride wanted the moms and grandmas to attend the dinner.

I made the Save the Date using the free version of Canva!

All my invitations were sent via Facebook Messenger or text message to save on postage and risk the invites getting lost. When you send out the invites, make sure to include times, locations, an RSVP date, and any other important information such as the bride's lingerie size, if the ladies need to bring their own drinks, or wear something specific.

Example - I threw a stock the bar party so I specified in the message I sent out that if you were planning on drinking, to bring your favorite liquor to share and what was left would go home with the bride-to-be. I also sent out her sizes incase anyone wanted to get her something. I bought extra alcohol incase no-one listened but that way I didn't have to pay for everyone that was drinking to drink. Needless to say her friends spoiled her so the bride had plenty to choose from and take home! Even ladies that didn't drink bought her a bottle.

DO NOT require guests to bring gifts, alcohol, food, etc... because they may not be able to. Simply suggest it if you are wanting it by saying something like, "If you would like to buy the bride something sexy to wear, her sizes are..." or "If you are planning on drinking, it would be awesome if you brought a bottle..."

If someone offers to help or bring something, that is a different story. You can tell them "yes" or tell them, "if they want to they are welcome too, but you think you are good..." that way you left it up to them.

Keep It a Surprise
I'm not one for surprises but I recommend keeping as much of the Bachelorette Party as you can a surprise for the bride. That means to tell the ladies invited not to tell the bride what is planned. The bride-to-be knew we were going to eat and back to my house but that was it.

Step 4 - Collect $$$
The way I planned the party, I didn't need to collect money from the guests. Depending on what you have planned, you may need to collect money for the hotel room, an event, an activity, or the party room at a restaurant.  DO NOT make the bride pay for ANYTHING. You pay or divide it into the total cost.

Total cost of (hotel/activity) ÷  Total Guest (minus the bride) = Total Amount Guest Pay

Depending on what you have planned, you can collect the money for the hotel and activities then ask for donations to help out with food, alcohol, and decorations or you can fork the entire bill yourself. The Maid of honor and/or Matron of Honor are usually the ones throwing the Bachelorette Party and paying for the majority of the party.

For our night out:
The mother of the bride paid for everyone participating in the flirty dancing class so that was a blessing. If not, I would of tried to collect the cost of the activity, minus the bride, from everyone attending.

Everyone paid for their own dinner. The mother of the groom picked up the bride's tab. If not, being the Matron of Honor, I would of of coarse.

The after party, I supplied everything and just asked that if the guest wanted to buy a gift or bring alcohol to stock the bar that would be awesome!

Step 5 - Buy Supplies (Decorations, Games, Food, & Gifts)
Every Bachelorette Party is different but most have a few things in common - alcohol, photo shoots, inappropriate decorations, a bridal sash and veil, party favors, and food. Depending on what you are doing, you may not have to decorate or buy food. We had the after party in my basement so I needed decorations, games, and food.

The Decorations
Pick a theme or color scheme and stick to it. Balloons and streamers are cheap and fun! I found a Bachelorette Party Bag at a peddlers mall for super cheap. I lucked out because everything was brand new, it had an inappropriate sign, photo props, the bride's sash and veil, and more. I also used some decorations I found from the bride's thirteenth birthday party that said "Let's get Wild!" on them.

I made several decorations out of cardboard (cardboard & paint). Since we moved a month prior, I had plenty of cardboard boxes I was able to repurpose into decorations and games. I made cardboard diamond rings, cardboard penises that said "Same Penis Forever"and "To Have & to Hold" on them, and a few smaller ones with faces on them. The cardboard decorations where a big hit!

I had "Time to Party" signs as guest entered the party. I had several pink and gold balloons on the floor along with some expired condoms I blew up and wrote funny wedding related sayings on. I also put a few condoms and toys rings on the coffee table to decorate it.

I decorated the food and drink tables with some homemade signs and hung some sexy underwear over the gift table.

I hung pink curtains to make a Photo Booth section along with Photo Booth props and a letter board sign with the wedding hashtag on it so the ladies could have a cute place to take pictures at.

The Games
Since I assumed there would be a wait for our food at dinner, I brought coloring sheets for the ladies so we could all be kids again! These were "Yes to the Dress" coloring sheets. Each guest was to design a dress for the bride-to-be based on a memory and leave a note on the back. The bride-to-be was then suppose to guess who drew what and pick her favorite. The winner of the "Yes to the Dress" game received a hand soap dressed up like a wedding dress.

Once we got back to my house, We played "Pin the Junk on the Hunk" where you pin objects that resemble the male genital on the hunk that is suppose to look similar to the groom.

Some of the items includes snake, bone, ice cream cone, saw, banana, hose, baseball and balls, corn, hammer, rocket, hot dog, etc...

We also played "What did the Groom Say?". I asked the groom twenty question and set the game up kind of like Jeopardy. The grooms answers do not have to be correct which makes this a fun game for the bride to join in on because she has no clue what he said.

The questions varied from what is the bride's signature drink to what is the bride's dream concert to what is the bride's favorite thing about the groom to what is the brides least favorite chore.

I also had some bras pinned to the wall with ping ping balls incase anyone wanted to pay bra pong. You can see the bras pinned above in the decorations photos.

You can easily make these games into drinking games for those that are drinking. If they miss or get the question wrong take a drink. If they are right, pass out a drink.

The Food & Drinks
Since we all ate dinner before, I had several pre-packaged snacks (Covid-19 friendly) for the ladies to snack on throughout the night. I had a candy bar full of gummies and mini wrapped candy, cupcakes, mini bags of chips, trail mix, and crackers. My sister-in-law brought some peanut butter fudge because she knew it was one of the bride's favorites!

I made a sign that said "Bite it, Suck It, Lick it, Blow it" for the candy bar. I filled it with candy that you could...

Bite - mini Snickers, Reeses, Hershey kisses, gummies
Suck - ring pops, dum dums
Lick - ring pops, dum dums, gummies
Blow - bubble gum, blow pops

This was a colorful, fun, and easy way to incorporate some snacks for the guests.

If people are staying the night, don't forget to have something planned for breakfast! I bought some pre-packaged muffins, danishes, and donuts. I also had some of the bride's favorite iced-coffee in the fridge.

As far as drinks go, I had some 2 liters and juices that worked as chasers or by themselves along with several water bottles. I bought a handle of flavored rum, a fifth of flavored vodka, and made drunken gummies. I also had mini shots of UV for everyone that acted as part of the party favors. Since this was a stock the bar party, the guests brought several bottles of alcohol from wine to champagne to tequila and whiskey so we had a large variety to choose from. There was more than what is pictured below.

I made two signs that said "She's tying the knot so take a shot" and a "Stock the Bar" sign with instructions on how it worked so the bride knew all the alcohol was for her.

Gifts
The bride was showered with several sexy things to wear on the honeymoon and several cute personalized items from an apron to t-shirts to wine tumblers and more! Needless to say the bride has an awesome group of family and friends!

I had several party favors for the guests. I was originally going to make goody bags but made labels for everything instead so the ladies could pick all or one item.

The party favors included:
  • The mini shots for those drinking to get the night started
  • Bath Bombs with the saying, "Thanks for coming, You're the Bomb!"
  • Nail Polish to match the wedding color scheme with the saying,  "To a lifetime of getting nailed!"
  • Tie-Dyed face mask because of Covid-19 with the saying, "She's Tie-ing the knot & Dye-ing to say I do!"
  • The mother of the bride paid for everyone participating in the flirty dancing class!

Step 6 - Have Fun & Be Smart
Make the bride feel special. Give her attention, ask if she needs a drink refill, dance if she's dancing, and make sure someone is always by the bride's side. If not, then go talk to her!

Play fun, upbeat dancing music in the car, at the hotel, at the house, during the after party. Wherever you are, keep the party going with upbeat music.

Don't force guest to drink, eat, or play games as not everyone may be comfortable doing so.

If you are out and about, stay together or go in groups. Do not group off and leave someone excluded.

No drinking and driving. Better to be safe than sorry.

Try to keep the drama to a minimum.

Take lots of photos to share with the bride later. Most will probably be inappropriate for social media but it's still nice to have several photos to look back at as a keepsake, especially if alcohol gets the best of everyone.

Most of all smile, laugh and have a good time to celebrate the bride's last night out as a single lady!

I hope this post helps you when planning your Bachelorette party. While I never did the math, the party was definitely budget friendly because I made all the games and several of the decorations. The main cost was the food, cups, and alcohol.

Overall I think everyone had a great time. The bride-to-be seemed to be very happy with the choice of activities, locations, and games. She was surprised or at least acted surprised and was spoiled by her family and friends with several gifts, a bar full of alcohol to take home which I'm sure the groom appreciated as well, and several memories I hope she will cherish forever. As long as the bride-to-be is having a good time, that's all that matters!
