In honor of the 100th day of school this week, I wanted to share my daughter's 100th day homework assignment.
The teacher was very vague on the assignment and pretty much said to look at Pinterest for inspiration. Since this is my first kiddo in school I didn't know what I was looking for. So needless to say I contacted the teacher for a better understanding and found out the assignment is pretty much anything we want it to be.
The teacher said she has had students bring in anything from a bag of 100 pieces of cereal to 100 books.
So basically, the assignment is anything the student wants to bring in as long as there is 100 of whatever it is! The possibilities are endless; it really just depends on how much your child and you want to put into it.
I got to brainstorming and suggested several different things my daughter could do for her homework assignment from stickers to drawings to a necklace and she decided on the drawings. She was super excited to start the drawings and kept asking when she could do her homework.

I created a mini book with 100 pages in it, labeled the pages 1-100 with a Sharpie and my daughter got to work drawing anything she wanted from shapes to flowers to lines, patterns, animals, and people.
Supplies:
- 25 pieces of paper
- Scissors
- Hole Punch
- 2 Metal Rings
- Coloring Supplies
- A Kid with an Imagination!
How To:
1. Fold the paper in fourths - fold in half and in half again
2. Cut along the fold lines.
If you want bigger pages for your kid to draw on, you can cut the paper in half or leave it whole.
25 pages: 1 paper = 4 pieces
50 pages: 1 paper = 2 pieces
100 pages: 1 paper = 1 piece
***If you don't feel like cutting paper you can always buy a drawing notebook that has 100 pages in it!
3. Nicely stack the pages together and hole punch at least one hole in ALL the pages.
I put two hole punches in the pages. If you use bigger pages, I would put three holes in the pages.
4. Combine the pages with the metal rings.
You can also combine the pages with pipe cleaners, string, twine, ribbon, flat head fasteners, staples, etc...
5. Label the pages 1-100 in the bottom right corner.
6. Optional - Create a Cover, Created By, and End Page to make the book look more official.
I made bubble letters for the cover and end pages so my daughter could color them in.

They can use markers, crayons, coloring pencils, etc. My daughter used gel pens.
If your child is having trouble coming up with things to draw, you can turn it into a game. You name an object, a shape, or an animal and see if they can draw what you said.
You can also tell your child to find an object around the house and see if they can draw if by looking at it - a still life drawing.

Example: Page 35 - I said draw a monkey and my daughter drew a monkey. I personally think it looks more like a mouse but can see how it would be a monkey...
My daughter worked hard on her 100 drawings. She did really well until she got to the last 30 pages or so then she started drawing lines, blobs, and just random colors on the pages. Although I wish she tried to draw more pictures since she had plenty of time, I think she did a great job for one of her first big homework assignments!
Hopefully my daughter's 100th day of school art project helps inspire your little one to take on the challenge and draw/color 100 pages. This project helps spark creativity and is fun for kids of all ages. If your child wants to, they can do this assignment each year and watch how their drawings improve with time!
I'd love to see how your kid's 100 Drawings for 100 Days of School book turned out! Add a picture to the "Tried It" on Pinterest!
