Of coarse I bought them using the 40% off coupon and hid them in my craft closet. Christmas came and went and the puzzles were still in the closet... oops. So what was originally going to be a Christmas gift became the perfect Mother's Day gift for my mom and mother-in-law aka the kids Gawah (grandma).
I pulled the puzzles out and divided up the pieces equally. Each person got eight blank puzzle pieces (four from each puzzle).
I dumped the colorful Sharpies on the table and everyone got to decorating the puzzle pieces however they wanted to. I recommend pulling the black and brown Sharpies so your words can stand out.
When everyone was done decorating their puzzle pieces I put the puzzle back together. I then used a black paint pen to write "We love you to PIECES" on each puzzle. I also decorated the border with some polka dots.
You can use a black Sharpie if you don't have a paint pen, the paint pen just gave the words a glossier look.
I added our names and the date to the back, wrapped them up and let the kids give Grandma their gifts when we saw them around Mother's Day.
If you can't find any blank puzzles in store at Hobby Lobby you try to order them online HERE. Check out Amazon HERE (affiliate). Or you can repurpose an old puzzle by painting over it with white paint, let it dry and decorate it.
These puzzles are super easy for kids of all ages to make. You don't have to be super crafty or even know how to draw to make the puzzle look cool. Since toddlers mainly scribble, it makes for a cool and colorful background.
The puzzles make a great gift for any holiday - Valentine's Day, Mother's Day, Father's Day, Birthdays, Christmas. They also make a great gift for anybody - mom, dad, grandma, grandpa. You can personalize the puzzle however you want and use any color scheme you want. Get creative or keep it simple like we did.
The best part is that this a one of a kind (literally) gift from the heart. It is also a great bonding experience for the whole family as you work together to make something beautiful. Every puzzle pieces is unique in it's own way.
