Do you like foam hand soap? I know I do!

I use to buy foam hand soap from Bath and Body Works on occasion but it was just to expensive for my liking so I resulted to the .98 cent soaps at Walmart. I loved receiving the foam soap as gifts or asking my mom if I could have one or two when I visited - she had a huge collection under the kitchen sink. I think my favorite thing about the foam hand soaps was the variety of scents.

About four years ago, maybe longer, I started using this foam hand soap hack. I am a little hesitant on how well it sanitizes my hands though so I sometimes find myself adding an extra squirt of soap when I wash my hands but it fells and looks almost the same as regular foam soap. Plus if you look at the ingredients, one of the main ingredients in foam soap is water so I tell myself it is pretty much the same thing; after all, most name brand items are overpriced just because they have the name/logo on the bottle.

By using this foam hand soap hack, I am saving money. I usually buy the .98 cents liquid soaps from Walmart and the one bottle of soap usually makes three bottles of foam soap. With three little ones, my family goes through soap like crazy. You wouldn't think that something as simple as soap could save you money but it does, especially when every penny counts!

What you need:

  • Clear Liquid Hand Soap
  • Empty Foam Bottle

Optional - You can also add a few drops of essential oils if you are into that.

How To:

Basically you fill an empty foam bottle about a fourth of the way full of clear liquid soap in your favorite scent.

Then you slowly add lukewarm water till it is full. Make sure not to fill it all the way up or it will overflow.

Screw the lid back on and slowly mix the water and soap by tilting it back and forth. You may have to do this a few times over the next day depending on how much liquid soap you put in the bottle.

If you fill it up to fast or shake it to mix, you will create a bunch of bubbles. That will waste the soap and make it harder to use until the bubbles go down.

Use every time you need to wash your hands! The foam is not as fluffy as actually foam soap but it feels the same and my guest haven't noticed a difference. If you have trouble getting the soap to dispense then you have added to much liquid soap thus making it to thick. I'd stay between a fourth and a third max. If you accidentally add to much liquid soap, it's okay, after a few uses just add more water and mix it. I personally add more soap to the bottle, especially in the kid's bathroom to help kill more germs.

I would assume this hack would work for any kind of liquid soap such as shampoo, body wash, baby soap, etc... as long as it is clear (creamy and bar soap are to thick).

I recommend giving this foam hand soap hack a try. I have been using this hack for at least four years now and haven't had a problem besides occasionally putting to much liquid soap in the empty container. I have also visited several other people's homes and have been told to "just add water" when I made the comment about the soap being to thick for the dispenser so this soap hack is well known by all generations but just incase you've never heard of it, I figured I would share and hopefully save you a few bucks next time you run out of foam soap!
