What is Love Beauty & Planet?
Love Beauty & Planet is a new product that just hit the market. Love Beauty & Planet is brought to us by Unilever. Unilever also creates brands such as Dove, Axe, Tresemme, Cares, Lipton, etc. Love Beauty & Planet offers products from shampoo to body wash to hair oils, hair wax and even dry shampoo. The best part about this new product is that it is eco friendly. That's right, from the ingredients to the packaging, Love Beauty & Planet is 100% eco friendly. How much do the products cost?
Love Beauty & Planet products vary from $3 to $9 depending on the product purchased. It looks like the average price is $6.99 for the shampoo, conditioner and body washes. The price may vary on location.
Personal Opinion: I personally find the price to be a little high for the size of the bottle and ounce per bottle but I am also use to buying the huge bottles of shampoo/conditioner for $5 a bottle and getting a bigger bottle of body wash for $3-$5. Honestly though I have never purchased an all natural, eco friendly hair care product before though so I completely understand why the price is higher.
What scents does Love Beauty & Planet come in?
Love Beauty & Planet currently has six different natural scents that each do something different for you skin and hair. The scents include:
- Tea Tree Oil & Haitian Vetiver - refresher
- Coconut Oil & Ylang Ylang Flower - repair
- Argan Oil & Lavender - smooth and tame frizz
- Coconut Water & Mimosa Flower - volume and bounce
- Shea Butter & Sandlewood - hydrate
- Murumuru Butter &Rose - moisturize
Personal Opinion: So far I have tried four different scents and products. For some reason I didn't have high hopes because I'm not a huge fan of coconut or rose but I was very satisfied with the products I received. A little goes a long way. All the shampoo and body washes I tried were very sudsy and full of bubbles which I enjoyed because it makes me feel more clean.
Coconut Water & Mimosa Flower Shampoo, Conditioner & Body Wash - The coconut smell is not super strong so once washed, your hair just smells clean. It made my hair feel thicker and a little dry after I washed it but once it dried it was less frizzy and my curls had a little more bounce to them.
Shea Butter & Sandlewood Shampoo - So far this is my favorite scent. It reminds me of the beach for some reason. It is a very mild and soft scent. The shampoo seemed to work great as far as hydration goes. My hair didn't feel dry once I rinsed the product out like other shampoos usually do and it gave my hair a little bit of a shine making it look very lively. I wish I had received the conditioner with the product but you can't be to picky!
Murumuru Butter &Rose Body Wash - I like how this body wash has a pump. The pump makes it easier to use. I am not huge on the smell though. I feel like the rose smell is very overwhelming. It reminds me of the pictures of a bath tub filled with rose petals and candles which I guess can be a good thing. The body wash seems to work alright. My skin is still dry in places but it isn't as dry as it use to be. Like I said before, it is very sudsy so you won't need more than two squirts.
Coconut Oil & Ylang Ylang Hair Oil - Personally, this product was to oily for me. I put it in my hair and it made it look greasy and I never have greasy hair. It also pulled out my curls. I have used other oils in the past and my hair wasn't as greasy as this made it. A benefit though is it gave my hair a shine. I would probably only use this if you are planning on straightening your hair to help keep the ends hydrated. It didn't have much of a smell. Hopefully the shampoo and body wash have a stronger smell.
Product Packaging Design?
As you can tell in the pictures, Love Beauty & Planet has a very new and sleek design. The product design is geared more towards women using light colors and flower/plant images. The font even screams girly. I personally love the design and think it is very original an unique. I did notice that different bottles have different designs. Im not sure if this is a marketing technique or if they are just testing them out to see what design goes over better but I personally like the design that uses the words "love" and "and" instead of the heart and & symbol.
As far as the bottles, I love the shape of the bottles. They area easy to use, not to thick of plastic but not to thin and they are made out of 100% recycled material. I prefer the pump to the push top as far as body wash. Overall I like the design of all the the Love Beauty & Planet product that I have personally seen.
Overall I like the products I have tested and would recommend giving them a try, especially if you are into the whole eco friendly, save the earth thing. Even though I am not huge on some of the scents, I can't stop using the products because I like how sudsy they are and relaxed I feel afterward.
