My husband and I have officially been married for two years today to be exact!!! For our one year anniversary (paper) I made him an A to Z Wedding Anniversary Date Book where we can keep track of what we did on our wedding anniversaries. Since it is our second wedding anniversary the traditional gift idea is cotton. It is harder than you think to come up with a cute cotton gift idea for a guy besides ordering him a shirt.

I originally was going to try to create a game on cotton material but decided to put together a gift basket where the items in the basket helped spell out the word C-O-T-T-O-N. It is kind of like an acronym for the word COTTON but with small phrases and sayings to go with the letters instead.

I was inspired by several pins on Pinterest (follow me if you'd like!) so thank you fellow pinners for sharing your anniversary gift ideas. Of coarse I added my own touch and came up with my own gifts and sayings to suit our relationship so when making your Cotton Anniversary Gift Basket, try to come up with items your spouse will enjoy.

My gift basket consisted of:

  • Cotton Candy
  • One Black Tie
  • Two boxes of Q-tips
  • Two Clamps
  • One Cotton T-shirt
  • New Personalized Whiskey Glasses

I also used cotton balls and tissue paper to fill the empty space.

I typed up and printed out the letters to spell out C-O-T-T-O-N along with what gift matched that letter and a saying to go with it. I also typed up a short note about how long we've been married and how much I love my husband and attached it to the gift basket.

I used a hole punch and some string to hang my cotton notes above the gifts. You can hang them like I did, tape them to the front of the basket or tape them to the item they go with.

Before you start shopping for items to put in your Cotton Anniversary gift basket, I recommend brainstorming items that go with each letter. If you can't think of an item to match the letter, you can put the words "One", "Two" or "New"in front of the item.

You can buy cotton items that match the letters such as a cotton t-shirt. You can buy items that use the word "cotton" such as a cotton candle or you can buy any item and just matches it to the letter kind of like what I did. Below I made a list of possible gift ideas to use in your gift basket.

  1. Great Idea! What did you use to hold up the "C-O-T-T-O-N" sign, in addition to the string?

    1. Thank you, I'm glad you liked it! I used two sticks I had left over from fairy wands but you can use anything you can find - chop sticks, wood skews, sticks, etc... should all work. I then wrapped the string around the top of the sticks and tied it into a knot.

    2. I think I may use chop-sticks. We're sushi connoisseurs! Thank you again for the great idea.

  2. You have saved my anniversary. My husband (like most I'm sure) is very hard to shop for. Then trying to shop cotton items only and we either don't need it or he won't use it. This makes it a little easier to find something
