Hand Print Flower Bouquet

Since Mother's Day is just around the corner, my husband and I were talking about what to get our mom's this year. I don't always give gifts for Mother's Day and if I do it is usually something small like flowers, candy or a cute craft because all mom's really want is to feel appreciated and loved by their children and what better way to show your mom you care than by making them a gift from the heart. This year we were blessed with another baby so now I have two kids under the age of two who are spoiled by their grandmas so I decided what better gift than to involve their grandbabies by making a Hand Print Flower Bouquet for them.

Supplies:

• Construction Paper
• Straws
• Scissors
• A Stapler
• Pencil/Pen
• Cute Little Hands
• Toilet Paper Roll (Optional)
• Duct Tape or Glue (Optional)

How To:

1. Cut the straws to different lengths to help give a variety of height in your bouquet. I cut several of them in half since I was using a toilet paper roll as my vase but cut them however you'd like to better suit your vase.

2. Trace your child's hand onto the construction paper. Remember we are making a bouquet so use bright colors. Since I was making this for Mother's Day I also traced my husband and my hands to add to the bouquet.

3. Cut out the hand prints. I also cut out a few petals to add to some, not all, of the flowers.

4. Once you have a good collection of hand prints, it is time to attach them to the straws. Wrap the bottom of the hand print around the top of the straw and staple it. Continue to do this until all of your hand prints are attached to a straw. Staple petals to a few of the flowers. 

5. Wrap each finger around the tip of your pencil to make the handprints look more like flowers. Continue until all of the fingers have been curled.

6. Place the finished flowers in a vase and you're done! I added a "Happy Mother's Day" sign to the bouquet and wrote our name on one of our flower petals so they knew who's hand it was to make it a little more personal.

Different Vase Ideas: 

• I wrapped a toilet paper roll with some duct tape I had lying around the house to make the vase for my Hand Print Flower Bouquet but if you don't have duct tape you can glue some construction paper around the toilet paper roll to decorate it. 
• Glass Beer/Soda bottle
• Mason Jar
• Red Solo/Foam cup: make sure to fill it with something to keep the flowers from moving a lot
• Wrap some tissue paper and a bow around them.
• Use an actual vase; I'm sure you can get them cheap at a Dollar Store

I think the Hand Print Flower Bouquet turned out pretty good and I hope our mother's enjoy it. All of the supplies I had lying around the house so it's a perfect craft to make especially if you are on a budget. This craft is easy to make but time consuming. The hardest part is getting the little ones to stay still long enough to trace their hands and cutting out all the hand prints but it ended up working out. If you are making the flowers as a craft at school, church, etc... the children will need help stapling their hand prints to the straw. Show your mother you care this Mother's Day by making her a gift from the heart. Hope you enjoyed this craft!
