Babies poop and poop stinks. When you have a baby, you spend money on diapers, wipes, a diaper pail, diaper pail refills, air fresheners, butt paste, etc. It all adds up and it adds up to a lot of $$$. In the end you are literarily throwing your money away.

Who likes throwing their money away? I know I don't.

I had three kids in three years which meant diapers diapers diapers. Diapers and everything that goes with diapers = $$$. Needless to say I started potty training my kids early and tried to come up with ways to save money. One way I saved a couple hundred dollars was by coming up with an alternative to those expensive diaper pail refill bags.

If you've ever bought diaper pail refills then you may of noticed they run about $1+ a piece. Even if you buy a hug box of twenty to thirty, you are easily paying $30. Yes they semi keep the smell in and have a nice clasp to close the bag when you throw it away but $30 for a two month max supply? It's not worth it in my opinion.

Mom Hack Time!

I went to the store, bought a box of tall, plain, off brand trash bags and an air freshener which cost me around $6. I then replaced the diaper pail refill with the trash bag and wah-la, I was done. Easy enough right?

I spent around $6 and am still using the trash bags and air fresheners six months out. I still have a ton of trash bags left too! If I had spent $30 on the diaper pail refills, I would of run out about two to three months ago meaning I have saved at least $50 so far and you can too!

7. Straighten out your bag, set an air freshener somewhere close to the diaper pail out of reach of your   child and you're done!

This mom hack is a great way to save money. I have been using if for a while and have saved. In the long run I'm expected to save a coupe hundred dollars. Imagine what else I could buy with that! Now you may be wondering why I don't just use a trash can, it would be easier right?

Well, I already had the diaper pail and some diaper pail refills that I have used over the last few years so I decided to keep using it. The diaper pail helps mask the smell, it has a lid so my little ones can't get into it and it semi closes the top of the bag which also helps mask the smell.

The only down side to using trash bags instead of the diaper pail refills is that they are not as thick so more of the smell gets out, hence the air freshener and the diapers tend to fill up the pail more so you have to keep an eye on how full the bag is and take it out before it reaches the top - don't forget to keep the plastic top!

Overall, I think it is worth the money I have saved and would recommend giving it a try. If you don't like it then you can always go back to spending more money on the diaper refill bags, try to find cheaper ones online or start potty training your child.
